If Music Be The Food Of Love
Join us for an evening of musical delights with mezzo soprano Iryna Ilnytska and pianist Alex Wilson in the Great Hall of the atmospheric St Nicholas Priory.
From the spellbinding Baroque world of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen to the glowing lyricism of Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi and the dramatic power of Verdi’s Otello, we travel across centuries of music-making while staying rooted in Shakespeare’s enduring stories. Alongside these vocal works, expressive piano solos offer moments of reflection and contrast. Intimate, passionate, and rich in colour, the concert celebrates the continuing conversation between Shakespeare’s poetry and the power of music. Prima la musica, dopo le parole. Or is it the other way around?
The evening will also afford you the pleasure of exploring Impressions of Venice, our special festival art exhibition tying in with our performance of The Merchant of Venice. Book your tickets here!
