The Biases of Live Theatre Transmissions

We really enjoy watching Shakespeare transmissions in the cinema. The chats in the intermission and the peek backstage are fascinating. What we never see are the cameras, the tech and the team of people operating the live transmission for us.

The process of planning the filming, choosing what to show to the audience and where to put the focus is an interpretation of the work in itself. We look forward to an insightful and thought-provoking afternoon exploring the choices and biases of the film directors and their invisible crew with Pascale Aebischer, Professor of Shakespeare and Early Modern Performance Studies at the University of Exeter.
